Storm Damage Roof Repair · Citrus County
After a named storm, the priority is stopping water entry and documenting the damage properly. We tarp, photograph the roof for your records, and provide a written scope you can hand to an adjuster. Inspections are free and there is no obligation to file.
What this involves
After a storm, the damage that matters is often not the damage you can see from the yard. Missing shingles are obvious. Creased shingles, where wind lifted a tab and folded it back down, look intact from the ground but have a broken seal line and a fractured mat that will leak in the next rain. Hail bruises asphalt without removing granules right away. Uplift can break the seal between courses across a whole slope while leaving every shingle in place. We document all of it with photographs and measurements before anything gets touched, so the scope reflects what actually happened up there.
The first priority is stopping water. That means dry-in: tarping open sections or installing temporary underlayment so the interior stops taking on moisture while the permanent repair is scheduled. Then we separate the roof into what can be repaired and what has lost its integrity. A slope with scattered missing shingles and sound decking gets repaired. A slope where the seal has failed broadly, or where decking is split at the nail lines, needs replacement, because new shingles fastened to compromised sheathing will not hold in the next wind event. If you are filing a claim, our documentation supports it.

Materials
Storm work uses the same materials as any repair, chosen and fastened for wind. An asphalt shingle's wind rating depends as much on nailing as on the shingle itself, so we set the manufacturer's high-wind pattern, with six fasteners where the product calls for it and nails driven flush in the nail zone. Starter strip goes along every eave and rake instead of cut-up field shingles, because the factory adhesive on that first course is what holds the edge down. Ridge and hip caps get sealed. Metal accessories dented by impact are replaced, not straightened. For temporary dry-in we use reinforced tarp or peel-and-stick membrane, depending on how long the roof has to wait.
How the job runs
Emergency tarp or temporary dry-in first, so the interior stops taking on water.
Full photo documentation of each slope, penetration, and interior damage point.
Written scope separating repairable areas from slopes that have lost their integrity.
We coordinate with your adjuster and supply measurements and photographs on request.
Permanent repair installed to high-wind nailing patterns, then cleanup and a walkthrough.
What drives the price
Storm repair pricing depends on how far the damage spread and how much of it is hidden. Emergency dry-in is a separate, smaller piece of work from the permanent repair. Beyond that, cost tracks the number of slopes involved, whether decking is split or delaminated at the fastener lines, how many metal accessories need replacing, and access, since debris and downed limbs slow staging. Steep pitch and second-story work add labor. If you are going through insurance, what you pay out of pocket depends on your policy and deductible, which is between you and your carrier, not something we set.
Why Florida is different
Citrus County sits inland from the Gulf but well within reach of tropical systems, and inland wind damage behaves differently from coastal damage. You get sustained wind that works seals loose over hours rather than one violent gust, plus rain volume that finds every weakened lap. Tree cover is heavy here, so limb strikes and abrasion from branches are as common as pure uplift. Summer also brings daily convective storms whose downdrafts can peel ridge caps off a roof that rode out a named storm without trouble. After any of it, a roof that looks fine from the ground is worth a close look.

ViewCoastal exposure is the defining factor here. Salt air shortens fastener and flashing life, and waterfront roofs take wind loads that inland Citrus County roofs never see.

It depends on the size of the failure and what is underneath, which is why we inspect first and price in writing. You will never get a number over the phone that changes once we are on the roof.
